The body of a man in his 50s has been discovered near the Mississippi River in Fridley, Minnesota, Thursday afternoon.

FOX 9 reports that the body was found in Manomin Park, where Rice Creek connects the river to Locke Lake, and that the description of the body does not match any missing persons cases in the area.

WCCO has since reported that the body is that of a white man, who they believe is from Coon Rapids and has been missing since January.

The discovery initially prompted links to the case of missing Crystal 10-year-old Barway Collins, who has not been seen since March 18.

Police have concentrated the search for Barway along the Mississippi River at North Mississippi Regional Park, about 3.5 miles south of where the body in Fridley was found.

But the Anoka County Sheriff said shortly after the body was discovered that it is not likely linked to the Barway case.
