The body of a missing deer hunter was recovered in west-central Minnesota, the Pope County Sheriff's Office says.
Jon Donald Kloos, 40, of rural Glenwood, was reported missing on Friday, prompting a search in and around Anderson Lake in Rolling Forks Township.
On Friday, searchers found a canoe in about 10 feet of water. Investigators believe Kloos was using it to paddle to an island in the lake to hunt deer.
Divers recovered his body on Saturday.
The Midwest Medical Examiner's Office will release the cause of death following an autopsy, officials said.
This is believed to be the second deer hunting-related death in Minnesota this season. Last week, a deer hunter fell 20-feet from a tree stand to his death.
Two hunters were also shot during the deer opener; both survived.
There was a drop in hunting accidents in Minnesota last year. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources' website shows there were five incidents reported in 2014, two of which were fatal. In 2013, there were 17 reported incidents with one fatality.
