Body of missing elderly man found in Cook Co.

After several days of searching, a family member found the body of 82-year-old Paul Brandt who went missing Aug. 1 along northern Minnesota's Gunflint Trail.

The Duluth News Tribune reports Brandt, a lifelong Grand Marais resident, left his home to pick blueberries and never returned.

A search team of law enforcement and volunteers scoured the area using aircraft, search dogs and personnel from 15 different agencies.

Authorities called off their search Aug. 6. The Cook County News Herald said family and community members gathered each morning at Nor'Wester Lodge, where Brandt lived, to continue the search effort.

Brant's body was located Sunday in rugged terrain a couple miles from where his vehicle had been found.
