The body of a man missing from the northern Minnesota city of Virginia was found on Monday, according to police.

The Duluth News Tribune reports 41-year-old Andrew Christopher Kanian has been missing since Jan. 2. Police received a call at 1:49 p.m. Monday saying someone had discovered his body under a porch in the 300 block of Third Street South.

Virginia police do not suspect foul play.

"Our investigation of the case revealed that Mr. Kanian was intoxicated on the evening of Jan. 2., and it appeared that he crawled under the porch area, fell asleep and froze," police told the News Tribune in a statement.

According to the report, Kanian was last seen at Rider's bar around midnight.

The Mesabi Daily News reports that Kanian's body was found only one-half block from where he was last seen walking.

Tammy Kanian, Andrew's wife, told the Northland's News Center she was in shock and disbelief upon hearing the news, Monday afternoon.

It is the third similar incident reported in the region this winter. Alyssa Jo Lommel had parts of her hands and feet amputated after suffering severe frost bite when she spent the night outside in temperatures as cold as 17-below zero, in December. Monday she was transferred to the St. Cloud Hospital to continue her recovery, closer to home.

30-year-old Erin Coons, of Duluth, also suffered severe frostbite after being discovered outside behind an apartment building in Duluth by a passerby, in temperatures as cold as 20-below zero in January.

According to the News Tribune, a post on a Facebook page devoted to finding Kanian thanked everyone for their thoughts, prayers and support during this time.
