The body found in the Apple River in Wisconsin last weekend has been identified as a missing St. Paul man.
Somerset Police Department confirmed to the Pioneer Press on Friday that the body of 29-year-old Kevin Rhines was pulled from the river on Sunday near Somerset's Village Park, in St. Croix County.
He had been reported missing April 2 by St. Paul police, the newspaper added, and is believed to have been involved in a crash in the town around the time he went missing.
According to a GoFundMe page, Rhines was the father of a seven-year-old son and also leaves behind a fiancee.
"Kevin Rhines was a funny, sensitive, caring, hard working and determined man," a posting on the site says. "He was always willing to lend a hand to a friend in need, offer any assistance he could, even if it was just an ear to listen and a shoulder to cry on."
The New Richmond News reports that vehicle registered to Rhines was found abandoned on April 2 in a ditch in Somerset, and a post on the newspaper's Facebook page by someone who knew Rhines suggested it had veered off the road.
His death remains under investigation by police.
