Body recovered in central Minnesota lake

The St. Cloud Times reports an ATV and a body were located in Rice Lake near Paynesville. Authorities have not released the victim's identity. The Stearns County Sheriff told the newspaper a resident was reported missing Friday afternoon.

2 bodies recovered after boat capsizes on Minnesota lake

The bodies of a 43-year-old Minneapolis man and of a 53-year-old Princeton, Minn., man, were found in Lake Winnibigoshish in Cass County in north-central Minnesota on Sunday, one day after their boat capsized in windy conditions. Their names had not yet been released.

Body of Lake Elmo teen recovered from St. Croix River

Search crews recovered the body of an 18-year-old man from the St. Croix River around 11:45 p.m. Monday, hours after friends saw him disappear under the surface. Friends of the victim tell Hudson police the Lake Elmo teen was trying to swim from the Hudson dike to the Minnesota side of the river.

Central Minnesota wind farm a year behind schedule

The necessary permits are in place to build a 95-megawatt wind farm north of Paynesville, but Edina-based Geronimo Wind Energy is still looking for a utility company to buy its energy. A St. Cloud Times report says this has delayed construction by a year on central Minnesota's first large-scale wind farm, that includes as many as 60 turbines.

A runner and a bicyclist discovered the body in the water at about 5 p.m. Tuesday, KARE 11 reported. The man's identity was not immediately released nor was the cause of death.

Divers recover body of missing teen from Lake Elysian

Search teams recovered the body of a southern Minnesota teen from Lake Elysian Saturday, KEYC reports. The high school football player went missing after the boat he was in with four friends capsized around 6 a.m. as the group was duck hunting. A senior at Waterville-Elysian-Morristown high school, Brady Hruska was the only one that didn't make it back to shore.

Authorities recover sailboat in fatal northern Minnesota accident

The Clearwater County sheriff's office has recovered the 10-foot sailboat that capsized last month near Bemidji. Two young boys died from hypothermia and their oldest brother continues to recover. All three boys were wearing life jackets when they were sailing with their dad.

Central Minnesota struggles with loss of historic flour mill

Facebook and Twitter have become places for some in central Minnesota to share their thoughts after a massive fire destroyed the Swany White flour mill last Tuesday. The St. Cloud Times reports the Freeport mill was family-owned and operated for more than 100 years. The mill won't be rebuilt, but the family might continue some of the Swany White products.

Hundreds of scaups found dead in north-central Minnesota lakes

The DNR believe about 200 lesser scaups have died from a parasite carried by an invasive species of snail. There have been several other die-offs of scaups over the past few years -- about 12,000 are estimated to have died since 2008.
