It was just a matter of time.
BuzzFeed, a time wasting website that's loaded with who'd-a-thunk-it lists (see: "21 PG-13 Movies That Are Actually Terrifying,""23 Signs Your Cat Actually Owns You," "The 10 Best Mustaches In Sports History") has at last turned its gaze--and tastebuds--to Minnesota's kitchen classics.
"19 Foods Minnesotans Do Better Than Everyone Else" includes booya, Tater Tot hotdish, wild rice, deep fried cheese curds and Jello salad, without the notation that only in Minnesota would gelatin combined with whipped cream and miniature marshmallows be considered salad rather than dessert. The list also includes a few made-in-Minnesota favorites, including Pearson's Nut Goodie and Surly beer.
Topping the list: the love-it-or-gag-on it seasonal Scandinavian standby, lutefisk.
The list maker is freelance writer Katie Heaney, a Minnesota native and University of Minnesota graduate now based in New York.
Previous BuzzFeed lists highlighting Minnesota include "The 29 Most Minnesota Things That Ever Happened,""38 Things Minnesotans Are Too Nice To Brag About," and even a guest list from Minnesota's junior senator: "Al Franken's 13 Reasons Why The Minnesota State Fair Is The Best In The Country."
