A 6-year-old boy Saturday became Hennepin County's sixth drowning victim this year. The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office said a passerby walking along Wirth Lake discovered the boy in about four feet of water close to shore. The sheriff's office said the boy was at Theodore Wirth Park with family for a birthday party.

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office is attempting to secure funding to purchase an underwater remotely operated vehicle (ROV) to expedite underwater searches and help protect divers.
