Boy, 7, found unconscious in Wirth Lake

A 7-year-old boy is hospitalized after he was found in Wirth Lake at Theodore Wirth Park in Minneapolis Friday afternoon, the Golden Valley Patch reports.

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office received a report at about 2 p.m. Friday about the missing boy. The child's grandmother initially alerted lifeguards about the missing child, who cleared the lake and began a search.

According to the Patch, the child was found unconscious in a swimming area in about 4 to 6 feet of water near a walkway.

WCCO-TV reports that lifeguards performed CPR on the boy and were able to detect a pulse.

The boy was transported to North Memorial Hospital. His condition has not been released.
