Boy hit by car while crossing the road on Christmas Day

Author:

A young boy spent the end of Christmas in the hospital after being hit by a car in Inver Grove Heights.

WCCO reports the 8-year-old was crossing the 7500 block of Concord Boulevard at 8:20 p.m. when he was struck by the car, according to Inver Grove Heights Police.

He was taken to the hospital by ambulance, where his condition is unknown at this stage. His identity has not been released.

The Pioneer Press reports that the car was driven by a 32-year-old man from South St. Paul.

He stopped and helped give aid to the boy and is said to be cooperating with authorities. Police told the newspaper there's no indication that drugs, alcohol and excessive speed were factors.

The incident remains under investigation, with no charges having been filed as of Saturday.
