Boy uses his Make-A-Wish to feed police, others with a food truck

A 12-year-old boy used his Make-A-Wish to serve the underappreciated and those in need.

Lucas Hobbs, 12, was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma earlier this year, and when he was granted a wish, he chose to "bring love to others" with a food truck instead of doing something for himself, the Chef Lucas Food Facebook page says.

Members of the Minnesota Food Truck Association and Make-A-Wish Minnesota teamed up to help fulfill Lucas' wish.

On Monday, Lucas was parked outside the Minneapolis Police Department's fourth precinct, serving up goodies from the O'Cheeze Food Truck and the Gastrotruck, the department said on Facebook.

“They’re forgotten sometimes,” Lucas told WCCO of the police officers.

“We get some people saying they appreciate what we do, but nothing like this by adults, let alone a kid,” Officer Miquel Barnes told WCCO.

This was one of several stops Lucas is making as part of his wish. Earlier this month, he fed more than 1,000 people outside of his church in Eagan, his Facebook page says.

He'll also visit Minneapolis Children's Hospital (where he was treated), the Dorothy Day Homeless Shelter, the senior citizen living community where his grandmother lives, and a school, reports note.

And some more good news: Lucas' cancer is in remission.
