Boy who snuck on plane to Las Vegas returns to Minnesota

Author:

The Minneapolis boy who was able to sneak onto a plane to Las Vegas is reported to be back in the Twin Cities.

KARE 11 is reporting the boy was the last person to get off the Delta flight Saturday morning.

The Hennepin County sheriffs office says officers were waiting for the boy to get off the plane upon its arrival, according to a WCCO report.

Authorities had kept the boy in Nevada for the past week where a judge heard his case.

Hennepin County Social Services filed a Child in Need of Protection or Services petition on Friday in the case. Officials said the child needs protection or services because he is a runaway and has committed a delinquent act before age 10.

The Star Tribune reports that the boys mother said the boy has behavioral issues and has been seeing a therapist. However, according to the petition, the boys last visit was on Aug. 13.

The boy slipped past several security checkpoints and gate agents and was able to board a Delta flight bound for Las Vegas on Oct. 3.

A hearing will now be held to assess whether the boy needs protection.
