Brainerd beating victim seeks $750,000 from bar, insurers

Although he has yet to file a civil suit in the matter, a man severely beaten in an attack at a Brainerd bar last year is asking the business and its insurer to pay $750,000 for his medical and legal costs. Willie Navy's attorney says he's sent a formal letter of demand to the Yesterday's Gone bar and the insurer. The attackers are now serving prison time.

The Federal Aviation Administration confirms a single-engine aircraft crashed in Upper Whitefish Lake near Brainerd early Sunday morning. The Pioneer Press reports the pilot was killed and a passenger was injured. An FAA spokesman said the small plane is submerged about 75 yards offshore, but had no future details as of noon Sunday.
