Bras on Broadway: Fargo's annual fundraiser puts undergarments on the outside
There's no proof that migrating birds navigate by them yet, but this is the seventh autumn that a rainbow of bras has graced the side of the Hotel Donaldson in downtown Fargo. It's all part of the Bras on Broadway fundraiser.
The bras hanging down the side of the hotel come from donors to the campaign, which raises money to offset the lodging and gas costs of women who travel to Fargo for breast cancer treatment. Last year's event raised more than $100,000, all of which stayed in the Red River Valley.
The keystone event happens Thursday, when bras designed by local artists and celebrities will be auctioned off. There are promising signs: tickets are sold out and this year's "bra garland" is more than two miles long.
