Police had to be called to break up a brawl between fans and players at a high school basketball section final on Friday.

The boy's teams Brooklyn Center and Minneapolis North were competing for the Section 5AA final at St. Cloud State University when the brawl started.

KNSI reports that local police and SCSU safety officers responded to Halenbeck Hall, with players from both teams escorted to their buses to avoid retaliation.

Nobody was arrested in the fight, which started after Brooklyn Center won 81-76.

The Minnesota State High School League has launched an investigation in the fight.

In a statement, it told the Star Tribune it's "in the process of gathering information" and working with officials and school administrators.
