BringMeTheNews was proud to accept the top radio newscast prize for the third year in a row at the SPJ Page One Awards on Tuesday night.
In addition to taking first place, BMTN swept the entire radio newscast category with second- and third-place prizes. BMTN has come out on top in the awards for journalism excellence every year since the company was launched in 2009. Last year, BMTN had first- and second-place finishes in the category.
"This is a real testament to the hard work we put into making sure our radio stations have the best, most accurate, and up-to-date newscasts each and every hour," BMTN founder and CEO Rick Kupchella said. "It's humbling to be recognized for that effort by our peers."
Kupchella, a former investigative reporter and TV news anchor, founded BringMeTheNews in September 2009.
The BMTN team of journalists gathers news from hundreds of sources and distributes the day's most compelling headlines through many platforms, including its website BringMeTheNews.com, mobile and social media.
The company also delivers news and sportscasts through a network of 34 radio stations throughout Minnesota. The radio team includes news veterans Kupchella, Don Shelby, Amy Hockert and Eric Perkins.
