A suburb south of the Twin Cities is looking for volunteers – described as "dedicated patriots" – to lower and raise flags at city facilities, according to a press release.
Volunteers would perform their duties on designated holidays and when flags are ordered to be set at half-mast, such as after a tragedy.
For example, President Barack Obama and Governor Mark Dayton ordered flags to be flown at half-staff after the terrorist attack in Nice, France last week – out of respect for those injured and killed.
Currently, the city of Burnsville flies the American flag, the POW/MIA flag, the Minnesota State flag and the City of Burnsville flag at multiple locations, said the release.
