A pastor from Cambridge, Minn. is facing sexual misconduct charges after the alleged assaults of two men receiving counseling, KARE 11 reports.

According to a criminal complaint, 55-year-old Ryan Jay Muehlhauser met one of the victims two years ago through an event held by Outpost Ministries, a group that works with men and women trying to "break away from the gay lifestyle."

During counseling sessions, the victims claimed Muehlhauser touched them inappropriately on several occasions. One victim said he was told to strip naked and masturbate in front of the pastor for "spritual strength."

"Mr. Muehlhauser preyed on these young men during a time when they’ve been rejected by their friends, family and religion," the Assistant Isanti County Attorney Stacy St George tells Isanti County News. "These young men trusted him with their deepest thoughts and vulnerable feelings and the defendant used his power to sexually abuse them for two years."

Muehlhauser is no longer in custody and would not comment, KARE 11 says. An attorney representing the pastor tells the newspaper that he has no prior convictions and his clerical support will hold him accountable for his actions.
