You can now buy Lift Bridge in grocery stores (but we don't mean their normal beer)

The brewery's popular root beer is being canned for the first time.

Lift Bridge is getting into the pop business.

The Stillwater brewery has been making its popular root beer since 2015, but you could only get it in a glass or growler in the taproom or at a few select restaurants.

Now, Lift Bridge is releasing its root beer in four- and 24-packs of 16-ounce cans after people started asking for it, Dan Schwarz of Lift Bridge, told GoMN.

Currently, you can buy the root beer at all Cub Foods and Supervalu locations in Minnesota, several Hy-Vee stores, and Lunds and Byerlys, among other grocery stores, but eventually you'll be able to get it in all cities where Lift Bridge's beer is currently sold, Schwarz said.

And if you want it in a keg, you can order one from your local liquor store.

The root beer is made with natural ingredients and spices, and is sweetened with pure cane sugar, with Schwarz describing it as having a "uniquely creamy mouth feel" with a vanilla-forward flavor. It does have that spicy flavor you expect from root beer, "but is very approachable," he adds.

Lift Bridge says it's great to drink on its own, or throw it in a glass with ice cream for a root beer float. Plus, it's gluten-free, so it's perfect for those with a gluten allergy or for people who don't drink beer.

Lift Bridge plans to celebrate the release of the canned root beer with a root beer float party on Saturday, June 10, from 3-6 p.m.
