Car hits two motorcycles, kills one driver in Minneapolis

A car driving in north Minneapolis crashed into two motorcycles Wednesday afternoon, killing one of the drivers and injuring the other, according to Minneapolis police.

The accident occurred about 4:40 p.m. near the intersection of 23rd Avenue North and Penn Avenue North.

According to police, two men on separate motorcycles were traveling south on Penn Avenue North when a car pulled into the intersection, heading west on 23rd Avenue North. The car hit both motorcycles, then drove up onto the sidewalk and crashed into a fence in the yard of a nearby house. Police believe the bikers had the right of way, WCCO reports.

All three drivers were taken to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, where one of the bikers was pronounced dead. There's no word on the condition of the other two, and the names of those involved have not yet been released.

Penn Avenue was closed to traffic for a period of time after the accident between West Broadway Avenue and 21st Avenue.
