Carry-on case starts 'smoking' as Delta flight from MSP lands in Wisconsin

Fire crews in Appleton, Wisconsin were scrambled to the plane.

A flight from Minneapolis-St. Paul caused an alert in Wisconsin when smoke came from a passenger's carry-on bag.

Delta Connection flight 4671, operated by its partner SkyWest, had landed after a short flight to Appleton International Airport when the smoke was noticed in the cabin at 8:45 p.m.

Appleton airport said the smoke was coming from a piece of carry-on luggage.

Both the local fire department and airport safety crews were scrambled to the plane in response.

"The plane landed safely and all passengers left the plane using the airplane's stairs," it added on Twitter.

Delta told KARE 11 that the source of the "smoky odor" was an electronic device.
