Carving a notch: Chain saw artists revved for Minnesota contest

That buzzing noise you hear this weekend is coming from a small town outside Brainerd that is hosting an annual chain saw art contest, beginning Friday.

At least 10 artists from several states, including Iowa and Nebraska, will compete at the National Chainsaw Carving Event in Hackensack, Minn., the Associated Press notes. Wood chips and sawdust fly as artists transform white pine logs into art.

The event includes the All-American Lumberjack Show, and the work of other Minnesota artisans will be featured, the Lake Country Echo and Pine River Journal notes.
