Catch Pokemon, drink beer: A Pokemon Go pub crawl is coming to Mpls.

With the new Pokemon Go app taking over the streets of cities everywhere, it only makes sense that places start organizing Pokemon Go-related events, right?

People are already crawling the streets after dark, searching for characters hiding around corners and in various buildings. So why not add some bars, a lot of beer, and turn the event into a pub-crawl – at least for a night?

It's in the works.

Set for Saturday August 13, the Gotta Catch 'Em All Pub Crawl in Minneapolis is open to everyone and anyone. You have to be 21 years or older to drink or get into the bars, but anyone can participate by playing.

The Facebook event page says at least some of the bars will have a cover charge. Special shirts will be available to purchase, and those will get you in without the cover.

Money raised from shirt sales will go towards charities such as Tree Top Kids, Avenues for Homeless Youth, and Minnesota Law Enforcement Memorial Association.

People are encouraged to get dressed up too and wear their favorite Pokemon-related costumes.

Here's a list the the venues that have said they'll participate:

  • Rouge at the Lounge
  • 508 Bar and Grill
  • Brothers Bar and Grill
  • Cowboy Jacks
  • The Pint Public House
  • The Loon Cafe
  • Kieran's Irish Pub

The Facebook page says there are more places that might be added to that list later on.

This isn't unique to Minneapolis, either.

There are similar events planned in Sacramento, New Orleans, Portland, and Colorado Springs.
