Cereal maker MOM Brands settles suit over antifreeze-tainted ingredient

MOM Brands Co., formerly Malt-O-Meal Co., has settled a lawsuit against an Illinois-based ingredient supplier that sold them an antifreeze tainted vitamin C supplement, the Business Journal reports.

The Minnesota-based cereal maker spent more than $840,000 to recall Malt-O-Meal Marshmallow Mateys in five states and destroy thousands of boxes of cereal, the Star Tribune reported.

MOM Brands sued DMH Ingredients Inc. in May to recover the damages. DMH denied the allegations.

A recent joint court filing says MOM and the supplier "fully compromised and settled" the dispute, according to the Journal.
