A Tennessee man has been charged with traveling to Bloomington to have sex with a 13-year-old girl.
Minnesota's U.S. Attorney Andrew Luger announced Wednesday that Jeffrey Scott Evans, 51, of Blaine, Tennessee, appeared in U.S. District Court on a charge of traveling with the intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct.
It follows an investigation by Homeland Security Investigations and the Bloomington Police Department, that started on June 12 when Evans is alleged to have used the social media site chathour.com to try to set up an encounter with a user he believed to be a 13-year-old girl.
Using the screen name "taboolooking," Evans initiated conversion with the user saying he wanted to text and email her, and said he'd be willing to travel to Minnesota to meet her if they liked each other.
He then made a reservation at a hotel in Bloomington, before sending a text message saying: "Do y really think y can stay with me 3 r 4 days and not get in trouble I hope u can."
He sent photos of himself and described his car to his possible victim, and also sent more graphic messages, describing the acts he wanted to engage in with her and sent photos of sex toys and clothing he had bought for her.
Shortly after he arrived at the hotel this past Monday, Evans was arrested by the authorities.
