The four people charged in connection with the death of Sarah Wierstad back in October are now facing additional charges in connection with a “night of terror” in Hennepin County, the attorney’s office announced Tuesday.
The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office says the group didn’t stop after they killed the 24-year-old mother in her St. Paul home on Oct. 18. Officials say the group went on several raids that night over the course of three hours, when they are accused of killing another person, among other crimes.
Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman calls it “one of the most violent rampages” he’s seen.
Here’s a breakdown of the night, according to the charges against them.
The crimes Albert McIntosh, Alvin Bell, Isaiah Harper and Michelle Koester are being accused of started when Wierstad interrupted a burglary in her St. Paul home Oct. 18 around 8 p.m., according to the attorney’s office.
Wierstad walked in on the burglary when she got home from work. According to earlier charges, the mother was shot after asking the men to give back her phone. McIntosh is charged with the fatal shooting.
Following Wierstad’s death, Hennepin County officials say a camera caught the group using her credit card to fill one of their vehicles with gas.
Around 9 p.m., Bell, Harper and McIntosh are accused of robbing a man who was getting out of his car. Afterwards, the complaint says the group met up at a different gas station and used the most recent victim’s card to fill up with gas.
Then around 10 p.m., police responded to a report of shots fired in southern Minneapolis. They found 42-year-old Julio Mozo-Cuate lying in an alley with multiple gunshot wounds.
He died later that night, the attorney’s office says.
Witnesses said they saw three men arguing with the victim and patting him down, according to the Pioneer Press. They said they heard gunshots before seeing the men run away, the paper adds.
Just after 11 p.m., the attorney’s office says the group terrorized a family of six. A father said three men – one was armed – broke into his home and told him, his wife and four children to lay on the floor as they stole credit cards, money, a safe and a Play Station 3.
The complaint says the robbers used the credit card later that night at a Brooklyn Center Walmart.
