According to the Minnesota State Patrol, 29-year-old Samuel Maser of St. Francis was driving a Ford Crown Victoria along Highway 10 in Coon Rapids around 2 a.m. Ashley Novak, 30, of Coon Rapids was in the vehicle with him.

Maser crashed into a stalled vehicle on the side of the road, reports say. No one was in that vehicle.

Novak was killed in the crash, Maser suffered non life-threatening injuries, officials say.

The Anoka County Sheriff's Office told KSTP that alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.

WCCO reports Maser admitted to drinking. The station says he took a breathalyzer test and it showed .165 percent blood alcohol level. The legal limit is .08 percent.

According to the Anoka County Sheriff's Office, Maser has been charged with criminal vehicular homicide – operating a vehicle in a grossly negligent manner. He's being held on $100,000 bail.
