A 56-year-old Detroit Lakes man has been charged after allegedly shooting and killing 69-year-old Geraldine Kading of Dent, Minn. with an arrow last Wednesday.

DL-Online reports David Lee Stensrud is facing second-degree murder.

According to the criminal complaint, Becker County dispatchers received a 911 call from a woman that stated Stensrud told her he had just shot his friend, Kading, and was going to kill himself.

When officers responded to the apartment, Kading was found dead with an arrow sticking out of her chest.

Stensrud was found lying on the floor of a bedroom also with an arrow sticking out of his chest. A crossbow was found lying on the bed next to him.

Stensrud was transported to St. Mary’s Essentia Hospital in Detroit Lakes. His condition is not known.

The Forum News Service says Kading was a widowed mother of four adult children.

Stensrud is a convicted sex offender and served 11 years in prison for criminal sexual conduct charges.
