A 16-year-old Chaska boy shot in the head with an arrow by his best friend died at the hospital Monday night, the Star Tribune reports.

Spencer Swanson was riding his bike to his best friend's house in Chaska Saturday when he was shot by the arrow. An attorney for the 16-year-old bow handler, Marsh Halberg, tells the newspaper the incident was the result of a tragic accident and the arrow ricocheted off the ground prior to hitting Swanson.

Friends and acquaintances expressed their condolences on a Facebook page created in Swanson's honor.

Police continue to investigate the incident.
