Western Wis. boy fatally struck by father operating snowplow

Publish date:

The snowplow that struck and killed a 4-year-old boy in western Wis. Tuesday morning was operated by the child's father, KSTP reports.

The St. Croix County Sheriff's Office says Collin Fitzgerald had asked to play in a "snow fort" while his father, Daniel Fitzgerald, plowed their driveway in Star Prairie Township.

Fitzgerald watched his son walk toward the fort and began plowing. When he backed up, he noticed blood in the snow and found Collin injured.

The boy was transported to a New Richmond hospital where he died from massive head injuries.
