CHS Inc., the nation’s largest agricultural cooperative based in Inver Grove Heights, says earnings jumped 25 percent to a record $618.8 million through the first-half of its 2013 fiscal year, according to a company news release.
Reuters says CHS posted a net profit of $275.1 million in the second-quarter, more than three times the $78.5 million it reported for the same period in fiscal 2012.
The record earnings was driven by the company's energy segment which soared to $234.2 million, from $42.1 million a year earlier.
CHS returned $600 million to its owners across the U.S. in February after seeing a record net income of $1.26 billion for its 2012 fiscal year.
