Cinco de Miserable--chilly weather rains on annual parade

Revelers wore coats, hats and gloves, and huddled under umbrellas at St. Paul's annual Cinco de Mayo Day celebration.

MPR reports the crowds were thin--thousands fewer than typical--as Mexican dancers and marching bands passed shivering celebrants along the parade route.

Morning temperatures in St. Paul only reached the 40s, 20 degrees below normal according to the National Weather Service in Chanhassen. That may explain why hot coffee was in greater demand than iced tropical beverages.
