City approves expansion study for bigger Fargodome

The Fargo City Commission will spend $95,000 for a study that reviews a major expansion of the Fargodome, the city's arena and convention center.

The Forum News Service reports that the feasibility study will be done in October.

The expansion and updating will likely include adding an 50,000 square feet and could add a two-story convention center on the building’s south end. The Fargodome's general manager Rob Sobolink put initial cost estimates of the project at $34 million.

The last major addition to the Fargodome was a $6.8 million lobby that opened in 2000.
