A volleyball coach from Brooklyn Park has been sentenced to five years' probation after pleading guilty to charges of possessing child pornography.

Not only did 41-year-old James Ferdig have images of child pornography in his possession, he also Photoshopped the face of a preteen girl onto one of those images, according to a statement from the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office.

The face belonged to a family friend of Ferdig, who was 14-years-old when they met. Ferdig also coached volleyball at the girl's school.

As part of his sentence, Ferdig must spend 240 days in the Hennepin County workhouse, register as a sex offender and undergo sex offender treatment. If he violates the terms of his probation, he could be sent to prison for two years.

According to the criminal complaint, police searched Ferdig's home in August 2013 and seized his computer, which they discovered had many images of minors engaged in sexual activity.

They also found images that had been altered to show the victim's face attached to the body of one of the people in the photos, so it appears she was engaging in sex acts.

The girl's family told FOX 9 they believe Ferdig snuck into their home and stole some pictures from a photo album. Some of the photos he used were taken when the girl was 8-or-9 years old, the station reports.

Ferdig pleaded guilty to the child pornography charge on Sept. 29.
