Xfinity internet service was out in a bunch of U.S. markets today

The Twin Cities were on the list of places where Xfinity internet went out.

Update: Comcast said Monday afternoon it had restored its Xfinity internet service after a configuration error interrupted it for some customers.

Below is our story from earlier Monday:

Comcast says its Xfinity internet customers are reporting outages in more than half a dozen metro areas around the country, including the Twin Cities.

DownDetector.com shows this map of affected areas, which also include New York, Chicago, San Francisco, and Seattle.

Reports say customers began losing service a little after noon, central time.

According to The Verge some customers say their service is slow or intermittent while others have no service at all. The outage seems to be affecting internet only, with no reports of TV or phone service being affected.

Comcast says it's working on the problem.

You can view outage information through Xfinity's app or chat with an agent about your service.

Xfinity has internet customers in 40 states and is one of Minnesota's biggest service providers.
