Community joins search for Kira Trevino

Community members have organized a search for the body of 30-year-old Kira Trevino this weekend, the Pioneer Press reports. The St. Paul woman was last seen more than three weeks ago. Her husband, Jeffery, now faces murder charges.

Abbie Slotsky of Burnsville organized the search effort. Slotsky, a law enforcement student at Rasmussen College, didn't know Kira but has been following the case.

Two six-hour searches begin at noon Saturday and Sunday. Volunteers will search the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area in Rosemount Saturday. On Sunday, they'll cover Lilydale Park. See the event page for more details.

St. Paul Police Sgt. Paul Paulos tells KARE 11 that there is no specific evidence to indicate Kira's body may be in that area, but police always appreciate an extra set of eyes in situations like this.

The Ramsey County Attorney's Office charged 39-year-old Jeffery Trevino with second-degree murder based on a large amount of blood evidence found in Kira's car and the Trevino's home.

A tip line set up by St. Paul Police has received several tips in the case, but none have lead to her body.
