The University Bridge near St. Cloud State University was shut down for an hour early Saturday morning as police were saving a suicidal person straddling the ledge of the structure. St. Cloud Police were called to the scene just after 1:30 a.m. to negotiate with the 21-year-old person. Police convinced the person to come off the railing after about an hour, and restrained the person to prevent any self-harm.

Al Kremers, chairman of the GSDC Air Service Corps. tells the newspaper, “It’s not Chicago, but we were looking for business and leisure travel carriers to come in and out of St. Cloud and this is a step in that direction."

Sabo bridge reopens to bikes, pedestrians

The Sabo bridge, which was closed after a pair of support cables broke in February, is reopening Friday afternoon to foot and bike traffic. Structural support was added underneath the bridge deck. Minneapolis is awaiting a report on what caused the cables to break loose.

The taser was needed to break up a fight that broke out after a judge denied a man a harassment restraining order. After the hearing, the St. Cloud Times reports Shawn Richard Skinner allegedly punched the other man in the face. He is now facing charges of fifth-degree assault and disorderly conduct.
