2 motorists shot in separate weekend incidents on I-35E

Police are investigating two separate roadway shootings on Interstate 35. In one incident in St. Paul, shots were fired early Saturday morning from a green Ford Explorer and another driver was taken to the hospital with face and neck injuries. In another incident early Sunday morning, a woman was shot and injured on I-35 in Eagan in what was likely a road rage incident. It is not yet known if the two shootings could be linked.

MnDot: weekend construction closes parts of I-35 & I-694

Key stretches of freeway will be closed at 10 p.m. Friday night, according to MnDOT. Westbound Interstate 694/Hwy. 10 will be closed between I-35E and I-35W for an overpass demolition. While southbound I-35W between Hwy 13 and Burnsville will close, too. Both are set to reopen 5 a.m. Monday.

I-35E among weekend closures in Twin Cities

Another round of road closures will create some obstacles this weekend for those traveling around the Twin Cities. Motorists are encouraged to avoid both directions of Interstate 35E will between I-94 and Highway 36. It will be closed for 24 hours staring at 4 a.m. Saturday. Highway 100 northbound will be closed from Highway 62 to Interstate 394 from 5 a.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday.

Man who threatened to jump from I-35E bridge is sex offender

The 37-year-old St. Paul man who locked up traffic for six hours Tuesday on the Interstate 35E bridge over the Mississippi River was a level-one sex offender who had just reported suicidal thoughts to his parole officer, the Pioneer Press reports. He fled Eagan police when they came to check on him and ultimately had a standoff on the bridge with police that ended with officers taking him into custody.
