Police in St. Cloud say they're arrested the suspect in a brazen attack at a local mall last weekend.

A Thursday morning update from the department says the 16-year-old boy was taken into custody "without incident" on Wednesday.

Police describe him as a runaway from Coon Rapids. He'll be held in custody pending charges of aggravated robbery.

The original story from Tuesday afternoon is below.

A 70-year-old woman is recovering from a vicious attack that happened inside a department store at St. Cloud's Crossroads Center mall over the weekend.

The victim had just walked into the Macy's on Sunday afternoon when a "lone male suspect," who had been following her grabbed her purse, according to a news release from the St. Cloud Police Department.

Because the purse was strapped over the woman's shoulder, she fell to the floor when the suspect tried to snatch it. Afterwards, police say, he dragged her as he tried to yank the purse away – and then kicked her while she was down.

He then ran off with his prize, but was chased through the parking lot by a 23-year-old woman who had witnessed the whole thing.

Apparently spooked, the suspect dropped the purse in the Target parking lot and escaped.

Now, local police are circulating the above surveillance photo, and asking anyone who knows who he is to contact them. He's described as "a white male approximately 16-18 years of age, standing approximately 5’9” tall with a heavy build."

As for the victim, police say her injuries were minor.
