Murray's restaurant reopens in Mpls. after 5-week renovation

A longtime Minneapolis eating establishment's doors are open again after a five-week renovation. Murray's Restaurant & Cocktail Lounge in downtown was closed in order to complete interior remodeling. The 66-year-old restaurant, which was last remodeled in 1984, includes a new bar and lounge area that is "designed as a more casual, energetic zone."

Murray’s Restaurant closing for renovations in August

The downtown Minneapolis restaurant and cocktail lounge will close July 30 and reopen on Sept. 4. Co-owner Tim Murray told the Downtown Journal furniture, carpet and drapes will all be updated during the five-week renovation. The project will also focus on adding more seats by improving the bar and restaurant layout. Murray's Restaurant opened in 1946.

Fundraising complete for new firefighters memorial

The State Capitol will soon be home to a new memorial honoring Minnesota firefighters who have died in the line of duty. According to WCCO, fundraising for the $600,000 project is complete. Plans include moving a statue at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport to the Capitol's south mall. It will join other veteran memorials next year.

Distinctive museum re-opens after renovation

The Weisman Museum re-opened to the public over the weekend after a $14 million dollar renovation. The distinctive curving silver building on the University of Minnesota campus now has double the gallery space. It closed for a year for the project that brings more light into the space and sweeping views of the nearby Mississippi River.
