Craigslist ad lets motorist who hit dog know it's 'not your fault'

"Hopefully you know it's not your fault, my dog is not smart enough to stay out of traffic."

That's what the owner of a lab-mix wants the person who ran over their dog to know.

The owner, with no other way to reach the motorist, wrote a post on Craigslist's Madison pets section. It was also posted on the uplifting news section of Reddit, where it has gotten more than 300 comments and has been upvoted more than 3,000 times.

The incident happened around 11 a.m. on Nov. 14 on Providence Street in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin.

The dog "darted out of the house and into the street," in front of the car that hit the pooch.

"My neighbors were shocked he survived with how ugly it looked, but he is too stubborn to die and he has more lives than a cat. He is alive and fully recovered!" the post says.

"I just wanted to say that he is OK," the post says, thanking the driver for stopping to see if they needed any help.
