Dayton in Winona for Minnesota deer hunting opener
Gov. Mark Dayton is in Winona for the 10th annual Minnesota Governor's Deer Opener, The Associated Press reported.
Dayton was scheduled to speak at the Winona Sportsmen's Club before Saturday morning's opener.
The governor, who hunted in Marshall last month in the second annual Minnesota Governor's Pheasant Opener, is not hunting in the deer opener.
An estimated 500,000 hunters are expected to head into Minnesota's woods to hunt deer this season.
