People who want health insurance coverage by Feb. 1 need to sign up for MNsure by the end of the day Thursday, a news release says.

The health care exchange will keep its call center open until 10 p.m. – two hours later than usual – in anticipation of increased demand for assistance.

Enrollments after Thursday would be for coverage that goes into effect March 1. The final deadline to apply for coverage for 2015 is Feb. 15, however Minnesotans eligible for MinnesotaCare or Medical Assistance can enroll year-round, a release notes.

Under the Affordable Care Act, most Americans who don't have health insurance by March will face a tax penalty.
