They're graceful creatures in the wild, but deer aren't exactly at home on the ice.

A video shows a rescue effort in Evansville, Minnesota this past Monday, when a group of family and friends scrambled to rescue a deer that got itself into a bit of a pickle on the ice.

The group – some of whom are Evansville Volunteer Fire and Rescue – sprang into action when it appeared no help was coming for the deer.

Among them was Jamie Englund, who told FOX 9 that they're all hunters and didn't think twice about saving the buck.

"We are all sportsmen – I’d do it again tomorrow," he said. "Coyotes would have gotten to it. Gave the deer another chance."

The footage shows them approach the deer using a sled, before hooking a rope around its antlers before those on the shore reeled the sled and deer in.

Here's the video (Warning: It contains some strong language).
