Dept. of Public Safety to publish DWI arrests on Twitter
The Department of Public Safety hopes public shaming on Twitter may prevent people from drinking and driving over fishing opener weekend, FOX 9 reports.
In the largest coordinated one-night DWI crackdown ever, 150 squads from more than 70 agencies will hit the roads Friday night in the Twin Cities.
The live report of DWI arrest activity will be published on Twitter from the handle @MnDPS_OTS, using hashtag #May10DWI.
Historically, drunk driving increases as warm-weather arrives. According to a Department of Public Safety news release, there were 288 drunk driving deaths from May to August in the past five years, representing 44 percent of all drunk driving deaths in the same time span.
