Deputies looking for person who shot this dog 6 times, breaking its jaw

Author:

Police in central Minnesota are looking for the person responsible for repeatedly shooting a labrador.

Stearns County Sheriff's Office said the dog was found a mile north of Avon, Minnesota, lying under a tree on Monday.

He was taken to a veterinarian who found the animal, a male yellow lab, had been shot four times in the face and twice in its hind quarters, most likely from a pellet gun.

Several of the shots penetrated the dog's muzzle and broke its jaw.

WCCO reports the lab is currently being cared for by the Tri-County Humane Society, which has named him "Remington" because he survived the shooting.

On its Facebook page, the humane society said the dog " is stable and is expected to make a full recovery."

Tri-County Humane Society's society's Anna Stratton told WCCO: "He’s the epitome of what you would want in a loyal companion. He loves attention, loves to be pet, loves people."

Anyone with information about who shot the dog – or who knows the dog's owner – should contact Stearns County authorities at 320-251-4240.
