Who doesn't love eating ice cream for a good cause?
Local ice cream chain Izzy's Ice Cream partnered with rapper/writer Dessa to create a new flavor and raise money for charity at the same time.
The new flavor is "a dark brown sugar and crème fraîche ice cream, flavored with Jameson and Disaronno Amaretto to help you contemplate the incomprehensible, all mixed with praline pecan pieces and a crunchy cashew brittle," according to an Izzy's press release.
The flavor will be released Wednesday, July 27, at a rooftop fundraiser on the Crown Roller Building starting at 5:30 p.m. The event will feature free drinks and performances from DJ Ander Other, Aby Wolf, and potentially a song from Dessa herself. Tickets are $35 each, and all profits will head to The Bridge for Youth, a Minnesota charity helping homeless youth.
Dessa explained in a Facebook post that Izzy's approached her with the collaboration last year. She also shared that her inspiration for the recipe mostly comes from her tour lifestyle. Read more below.
If you aren't able to make the event, Dessa said she will serve cones of her new flavor at the Izzy's Minneapolis location at 7 p.m. after the fundraiser "until the Izzy’s staff gives me the side eye, implying I’ve eaten more than my share of the product."
