Details vague on new Wal-Mart distribution center in Mankato
It's still unclear when Wal-Mart will build a proposed Midwest distribution center in Mankato, the Free Press reports. City Manager Pat Hentges told the newspaper nine Wal-Mart executives visited the site this fall, but couldn't "release any specific start date or project date information."
Wal-Mart confirmed that Mankato is the location of its next Midwest distribution center in August 2010.
Wal-Mart opened new stores in Burnsville, St. Cloud and Redwood Falls this fall. The Arkansas-based retailer now has more outlets in Minnesota than its Minneapolis-based rival Target.
Wal-Mart also plans to build a new SuperCenter store in Cottage Grove on the site of the site of the historic Cottage View Drive-In.
