Developer proposes massive pyramid project in ND
Camp and Associates, an Atlanta-based development firm, says it wants to build a $150 million, pyramid-style apartment complex and entertainment center for the growing population in the oil-rich region of western North Dakota, the Williston Herald reports. The 500-unit "New Cimarron City" would stand taller than the pyramid-shaped Luxor hotel in Las Vegas. Local officials are questioning the rationale of the proposed building since it would be located about a half-hour east of Williston.
City officials in Williston issued a record number of building permits last year.
At least two Minnesota companies have also tried to help ease the housing shortage in western North Dakota by sending prefabricated homes to the region and building an indoor RV park.
