Police: 8 dead, at least 10 injured in shooting at German mall

Police say eight people are dead after gunmen opened fire at a shopping center in Munich Germany Friday, and the suspects are reportedly still at-large.

The Munich Police said Friday afternoon it had counted eight dead after the gunfire at Olympia-Einkaufszentrum mall.


On Friday evening, police said they knew of at least 10 people injured.


One German news outlet is keeping a live blog (you can use Chrome's translator to see a rough English version). The shooting appears to have started around 11:30 a.m. central time at a McDonald's, making it around dinner time in Munich.

CNN reports the shooting was considered over at about 11:44 a.m. central time.

Multiple gunmen suspected, police searching

On Twitter, Munich police said they do not know where the suspected gunmen are, and reminded people to be careful and stay inside.

They're searching in Munich for the suspects.

The Guardian reports witnesses noted three gunmen. According to the AP, they're believed to be carrying rifles.



Police also said they have a large operation ongoing in the area, and are asking people to avoid the shopping center, and stay in their homes.
